Our Breeding Program

Our breeding dogs undergo extensive health testing prior to breeding. Both the sire and dam receive the following screenings to ensure the healthiest puppies possible:

  • OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals,Inc.) Certifications for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart

  • Genetic Testing through Embark & Animal Genetics to screen for any genetic markers

I breed occasional litters which I offer to exceptional homes!

Once you have a puppy from me you are part of my family and my heart (those of you who already have one of my puppies know that).

I am deeply committed to the science and responsibility behind breeding, ensuring that every puppy we produce will thrive in its new home.

How We Raise Our Puppies

***How a breeder raises their puppies from in the mother's womb to whelping to toddling in the environment matters!***

At Stephanie’s Paws Unlimited, we believe that the mental health and confidence of a dog starts in their first few weeks of life. That’s why we follow Puppy Culture Protocols and focus on creating an environment that encourages puppies to be confident, outgoing, and prepared for their forever homes.

All of our puppies are raised inside our home, surrounded by my household of 3 children, their doggie parents (Ember & DaVinci), our indoor cat, and various animals on our property (horses, cows, goats, chickens, ducks, birds).

This exposure helps them adapt to a busy, stimulating environment, giving them a great foundation to handle life outside the breeder’s home.

  • Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) & Early Scent Introduction (ESI) are performed from Day 3-16 of life. These exercises helps track a puppy's individual personality and potential for service work.

  • Potty Training starts as early as 2 weeks. We provide plenty of potty areas around their playpen and gradually reduce these areas to teach them the appropriate places to go.

  • Grooming Introduction is another essential part of their upbringing. Although Goldens don’t require extreme grooming, they do need regular care. We slowly introduce paw pad trimming, baths, blow drying, and more, ensuring they are comfortable with these processes by the time they go home.

  • Nail Care is a big part of a Golden's grooming routine, and we make sure it’s done weekly so the puppies are familiar with it.

  • Crate Training is started while they are still in our care, helping them understand that crates are a safe space. This early training makes the transition to their new home less stressful, as they are already familiar with being crated.

We truly believe that early training sets puppies up for success, and we provide lots of videos and pictures of their progress to ensure you are involved in their growth.

How to Secure a Puppy

We strive to match each of our puppies with the perfect forever home. Below is an outline of the steps involved in reserving a puppy:

  1. Puppy Inquiry: Begin by filling out our puppy inquiry form. Please provide as much information as possible about your family, lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a Golden Retriever.

  2. Phone Interview: After submitting your inquiry, please text Stephanie to confirm. We will set up a phone interview where you can ask any questions, and we’ll get to know more about you.

  3. Deposit/Holding Fee: If approved, we will send you a deposit contract. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your puppy, which will be applied to the full price of $3,000. Puppies are sold with AKC Limited Registration (no breeding rights).

  4. Updates: You will receive weekly updates with photos and videos so you can watch your puppy grow. We'll also send you a packet to help prepare for your new addition.

  5. Health Screening: At 7-8 weeks, the puppies will have a full health screening by our veterinarian, including heart, joints, bite, and more. They will receive their first puppy booster shot, and we’ll provide you with a detailed health report.

  6. Pick-Up Day: On pick-up day, you’ll complete your puppy’s AKC registration, and your puppy will be microchipped with an AKC ReUnite microchip. The remaining balance of $2,500 is due at this time, payable via cash, Venmo, or Zelle.

We are available for support and questions throughout the entire process. Our goal is to ensure you are fully prepared for the arrival of your new family member!

Commitment to Our Puppies

We take pride in the quality of our puppies and stand by them for life. If, at any point, one of our puppies needs to be rehomed, we ask that you offer the puppy back to us first. We are dedicated to finding loving, responsible homes for every puppy we raise, and we’re always here to provide advice and support.

Stephanie's Paws Unlimited LLC also reserves the right to first choice puppy at any time.
